A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from earthkitten telling me they were going to 80's night at one of the clubs downtown last night. It took me a few weeks to reply (as I suck at e-mail sometimes) but I said I was "in".
But yesterday I was getting that indecisive feeling in my stomach. Should I go? I talked to my friend K and because they all live in the suburbs they decided to take a limo as it was a cheap way to get downtown. I told them if I came out, I would meet them there. K told me at least come out for one drink.
I started to get ready and nothing was looking cute (I'm sure the girls know how this feels). Finally though I decided on my new-ish jeans, my new shoes and a black sleeveless, low-cut top. I liked it. Earthkitten said I looked like someone from the 20's. But I can't remember who. I think that was a good thing though.
But again, should I go? I even went online at one point and asked a magic eight ball website if I should go. It said "no". "Hmm....." I thought, "maybe I should stay home."
At that point the phone rang. It was K and they couldn't get into the club because it was at capacity due to the UFC fight that was on. They needed to kill half an hour while the fight ended so they were going to come get me in the limo! YAY! The night was "on".
I ran outside to the limo when they arrived and Ken the driver let me in. I felt like I stepped into a party zone. (Please take the time to press play on the Butthole Surfers song on your left as this was what was playing on our way downtown). Everyone was feeling pretty good in the limo (and looking oh so cute) and we drove around for a bit until we got to the club.
We had to wait in line while the UFC people cleared out (lame). On a sidenote, I am definitely going to be at the bar next time there's a fight. A lot of cute guys came out of those doors. Too bad they weren't staying for 80's night.
Anyways we got a table and since most of my friends were already half drunk (etc) I needed to catch up. My first drink was a double.
We started dancing and slowly the club started to fill up (or I was just getting drunk). They played two A-Ha songs which made earthkitten so happy!
I looked over on the dance floor and saw a guy that looked familiar. Invisible G and I hung out with him and his friend at the Shout Out Out Out Out concert last year (I added one of their songs to my list too so anyone who hasn't heard how good they are can get a taste).
Anyways to make a long story short, this guy and I hung out together for the whole concert, he bought me a drink, held my jacket the whole night and asked me for my number. He and his friend (who was pursuing Invisible G) asked us to hang out after the concert. We got to the lobby of his building when my flight instincts kicked in and I turned to IG and said "lets get the hell out of here." He moved four hours away that weekend and never called.
Anyways back to 80's night. So I told my friend A that I think I knew this guy and told her his name. She promptly walked over to him and asked him if it was his name, he nodded and she pointed to me. He came over and we started to talk about how we had met before. He said he never called because he moved away THAT weekend. I think my low-cut shirt was working though because he looked like he may have regretted it. We talked a bit about music (he has great taste) and he asked me for my number again and said he would call this time. I handed him my phone and told him to call himself.
We danced and I was pretty drunk by the time the limo was back to pick us up. I don't even think I said goodbye to this guy.
When the limo dropped me off, Ken the driver got out and opened the door for me (so nice) and asked me if I had my keys (so nice) and I darted into my apartment and flopped onto the couch. I was super hungry as I had only a bubble tea for dinner and was seriously contemplating walking three blocks to the 7-11 for some chips.
Then my phone did the text message ring. It was my new friend telling me he was checking out a bookstore Sunday and asked if I read*. I texted back "I do". He asked me to come with him and said he would call the next day. I went to bed.
When I woke up there was another text message from him from like 6:45 in the morning proposing a full date starting at the bookstore, dinner and ending with .....
The problem is I felt like totally crap since I drank too much. I texted him to tell him I wasn't feeling too great and that we should reschedule. He said he was running out of time (he lives out of town) and that he said he would be at the bookstore if I felt like joining him.
I think I'll leave this as a cliffhanger.....hehe so evil. But it was a really fun night and mostly because I got to hang with my awesome highschool buddies. It was so weird all of us being back together including one friend who was in from Seattle and who I literally haven't seen since the 90's. Those girls are awesome and I am really glad I went out. I will not question doing that again.
I might post my shoe collection tomorrow. Is anyone else in?

Yes, cliffhangers are very evil. If this turns out to be one of those wait-until-September-to-find-out deals, I just may have to come to Vancouver and throw a banana cream pie in your face.
I concur, evil, pure evil...
How far away does he live? 80's night, I love 80's music. We went to a bar in Montreal called Electric Avenue or something like that woo hoo!!
Love to see your shoe collection!
I'm in Rawbean, so in. I'll take some pictures tonight.
I thought you were going to say you had a one night stand!
I made Patti with me to watch UFC at the bar during the last Pay per View.
Those are the sort of magical nights that make me feel a little nostalgic about when I was single. I was up in Seattle last weekend!
Oh Rawbean, what a cool post! I didn't realize you knew that guy when we were dancing with him. He was doing rad air-guitar....hehe....
SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!
PS: I went to Army and Navy today (your fault) and bought a really cute pair of Oscar de la Renta black peep-toe slingbacks. They're really comfy too!
I think that would be super fun to post our shoes! I don't know if mine would all fit in the frame...hehe....
wigsf - I don't know, I actually don't like posting about stuff like this. It's too personal or something. You might never find out.
nayway - you know you e-mailed me today and have all knowledge now.
miss ash - 4 hours. You have to post your shoes!!
sarabeth - saw your shoes, so awesome! Thanks for posting.
big ben - I actually don't mind UFC. I could stand to watch it.
trib - awh...are you still with that cute girl from awhile ago?
earthkitten - I'll tell you about on messenger. And good work with the shoes. YAY!
You know, Wiwille really likes that UFC stuff.
Just saying.
I don't think he would want to watch it with me :(
