I never used to be into boots. In Winnipeg, I don't even know if I owned a pair (Chanty? Do you recall?) But recently they have become an essential part of my wardrobe. There are girls in boots EVERYWHERE here in Vancouver and now I know why.
If you're like me and take transit to work, you need a stylish yet comfortable shoe to walk in that will last. A flat boot is the perfect solution. It also keeps your feet dry which again, is an essential in the rainy winters of Vancouver.
Last year after a few drinks (seriously) I stepped into an Aldo store and bought my first pair of boots - the grey pair pictured below. They weren't that expensive and grey goes with everything so it worked out. I still like these boots, but recently on a trip to the U.S. while shopping at Target, an older woman asked me if I was trying them on as she wanted a pair as well. Later while in another discount store, some ladies in their 50's were also spotted staring at my boots and pointing with approval. I don't know how I feel about that. I don't want my mom's generation to approve of my boots - do I?
After Christmas last year, I hit a really good sale on these black Brown's boots at The Bay. In fact they were 50% off which is amazing! They are slightly higher than the grey pair and are seriously the most comfortable footwear I have ever owned and are so versatile. It is my belief that everyone should own a pair of black boots.
After the grey boot fiasco in the states (kidding) my mom and I went to Macy's where I ended up buying these shorter black boots by Nine West. It's part of a vintage collection they introduced recently and they kind of remind me of Doc Martens, but with more of a motorcycle feel. I haven't worn them as much as they are a little more of a statement (But cute with rolled jeans), but I plan to wear them as soon as tomorrow in combination with my new legwarmers (see photo on the right)! I'm actually really excited about this. I like these boots because they are a little more obscure than your every day boot on the street.
Last week I went out with a friend after work to check out some stores. I really shouldn't have been out there shopping for myself, but I actually dragged her into B|2 (Brown's) where she found a beautiful pair of knee high black boots. While she was trying them on, I spotted these brown boots. Brown.....I needed brown to complete my collection! I tried them on and LOVED them. I put down my credit card moments later. I'm usually not an impulse buyer like this, but every once in awhile you gotta go for it. The photo does the boots no justice. I've been getting a lot comments about my boots and even the teller at the bank today told me how much she loved them and asked where I got them. They are waterproof, made in Canada and being knee-high, they keep your legs incredibly warm. Can't lose.
Are you a boot-a-holic like me? What are your favorite pair?
Stay tuned tomorrow for a post about a surprise that greeted everyone in my building at work today....

ha ha, I love the picture where you are leaning over to the take the picture. You must have had a lot of fun putting on all the different boots and then taking pictures of them all.
Your new brown ones are awesome! I think its so interesting how styles and tastes have changed. Ten years ago, no self-respecting woman could wear over-the-knee boots, but now they are all the rage.
I only have the one pair I just bought, but I think that's about standard for guys. Boots are just becoming in style for men. But I love the ones I bought, they look a little like your awesome short black ones. Have fun wearing them tomorrow.
I LOVE boots and I love all of yours. They're probably my favourite item of clothing, apart from sweaters. I wear boots every single day (fall to spring anyway). I have some high black ones that are my current faves. I was in the States recently with a woman who bought 8 pairs of boots. We were on our way home and ran into Target. She saw me looking at boots and so she spent 20 minutes finding me the right pair (so of course I had to buy them) - tall, black, with a big chunky zipper up the back. Kind of biker chick, totally uncomfortable, but I wear them for her.
Wow! I love your boot collection. And I completely approve of your impulse buy boots that you recently got. They are awesome, and they'll last you forever.
I just have three pairs of boots; one of which I wear constantly. They'll like slouchy black wedge boots. I have a pair of Uggs that aren't like typical Uggs that I love, but they're salt-stained to hell so I have to deal with that.
I am looking fwd to the post about the surprise! When you tweeted it, I thought that it would make a funny post!
Those brown boots are GORGEOUS. I can't believe I didn't see them when I was over on the weekend!
I only own one pair of boots - my Harley Davidson boots - and they are pretty awesome - about 10 years old now and still going strong.
ive been thinking about buying a pair of flat boots lately. you sold me. thanks
You know how crazy I am for boots! And I completely adore your new buy!
I just bought a pair of cheap flat black boots that are comfy but not too exciting unfortunately. I'm on the lookout for a new pair of grey boots as I got a dirty look at work for wearing my current grey flat boots (they're a little scuffed).
And I totally know what surprise you're going to post about. I was totally creeped out by them this morning.
I find women's boots to be sexy and like the look. Contrary to popular belief, it makes me think that this woman is adventurous and likes to travel. Donno why.
