How's it going out there?

I used to stress about posting on my blog regularly. Clearly that has passed and I'm letting it slide quite a bit. I don't even know what this post is going to be about actually, I'm just typing. I feel like I should make a list though. A list of ten random things. Here they are in no particular order:

10. Today I went into work for a few hours as did a coworker. We made a deal with one another that we are going to stop eating treats like chocolate bars, donuts, pastries and other crap that comes through an office on a regular basis. I told her I would pay her a dollar every time she sees me eating any of these items. This will go on until August 13th, 2011. Yes it will......(darting eyes from side to side).

9. In BC your driver's license lasts for five years, which is nice because you only pay for it every five years. But it sucks if you have a bad photo like I do because it lasts that long. I once had a girl at the bank tell me my photo was bad (at least she said it didn't look like me) - so I need to make sure this year, my photo is good. This may be some of the motivation for my no crap pledge above.

8. I'm watching the Oscars right now. I'm amazed at how uncomfortable these are to watch and it's crazy because I was excited for this show - why? I have no idea.

7. I'm contemplating getting rid of my cable again. I was thinking maybe just for a year to see what happens. I think it's probably good to do things that are outside your comfort zone. I'm trying to think of what I will miss. Will I really miss anything? More like, what am I missing because of TV, right? right?

6. What else....Oh Javier Bardem is super hot. It's that scruffy beard he pulls off so well.

5. I've been making coffee at home lately, breakfast too and it actually makes me more excited to get up in the morning. It's nice to sit for two seconds and just be still before you start the day and the "flight of the bumblebee" starts in your head. Right?

4. Vancouver got named the world's most livable city again. It's funny because apparently they don't take into consideration the cost of living or the natural beauty of a place. What the hell are they taking into consideration? I saw this on CNN (oh the shame) and the news anchor seemed pissed off. I guess Pittsburgh was the highest ranked U.S. city and it came in 29th. It makes me laugh that Americans don't know why....um can you say healthcare people?

3. Vancouver was definitely not the most livable city this weekend as it totally snowed. I'm on my 5th year out here now and I have come to totally dislike snow. Sure on a ski hill its great, but not in a city. I always hear people getting so excited when it snows because it's a 'novelty'. Today at the office I heard a noise outside and my coworker came to see what it was. "It's a snowplow!" I said. "Actually it's a garbage truck with a plow stuck on the front" she said. Awh.....good try city, good try.

2. I think I'm going to need to do a shoe post. I've been wearing boots ALL winter and once spring hits, they are going into storage and I need to replace them with awesomeness. Anyone have any ideas? I also want a pair of fitted cargo pants that I can wear with heels. Yes. Random.

1. Oh number one already? What else can I tell you? I saw Trevor Linden speak last week at a business breakfast. It was actually pretty good - he's very down to earth. After, we decide to get his autograph (what the hell right?) I asked my coworker if she could take my picture while he was signing the autograph (an action shot really), but as I walked up to him, he saw Tiina in his peripheral vision and said "Let's pose for the picture first". You can't really say "I don't want a posed picture" to a celebrity, so I got it. In fact, I started to act a little giddy while talking to him which is totally ridiculous because although I like the Canucks, I'm not a die-hard hockey fan. Oh well, I'm sure there are not many Interior Design magazines with his autograph on it, so I will keep that one safe.

Have a great week everyone!

I met Trevor Linden randomly at the Westin Bayshore a few years ago (haha, not in the way that sounds!!) I got so ridiculously awe-struck, I was fumbling to get paper out of my purse and could feel my cheeks burning, and that totally shocked me because I wasn't even really a huge fan at all (I was getting the autograph for my grandma!) The funny thing is, he was there with Luongo and another Canuck I still can't name...and I completely snubbed them - YES I snubbed Luongo - because at the time, I had absolutely no idea who they were!! They seemed pissed off that I just kind of looked at them and then ignored them, and then I saw Luongo on tv that night and thought - OOPS!

i never watch the oscars...I actually forgot they were on last night. But they were making fun of james franco today on the radio saying he was so stoned and out of it....and then they played clips of him talking - and I agreed. He did seem out of it.

I havent ever had cable - what do you need to see that you cant watch on the internet!!

I agree with PP. The interwebs is where it's at these days. A lot of money can be saved, which you can put into other stuff.

The converted snowplow garbage truck story made me laugh, particularly your "good try city" comment. Snow in cities isn't so bad when it's falling. It becomes miserable when it's all slushy, and brown, and has garbage juice in it. Does Vancouver have garbage juice on sidewalks? New York City has it. It's pretty nasty.

Pittsburgh is actually a pretty nice city. It's compact and walkable. The UPMC Health System is one of the best integrated systems in the US. I do agree with you that the national health care system in the US is not doing an adequate job though. It's good if you have insurance, but it's abhorrently bad if you lack it.

I love random posts like this! I think 80% of my posts fall under this type.

7) I have the most basic of cable. Maybe instead of getting rid of all of it, you could become like me. At least you'll still have the news.

4) How could they not count natural beauty?? I thought that's what clinched it for Van...

Good luck with your new license photo. Lots of pressure there, eh? And... looking fwd to the shoe post!

How did I miss this post?! LOVE the garbage truck with the plow stuck on front....oh Vancouver.
I'm thinking of doing a shoe post too!!
The moment I heard that Vanilla Ice has his own renovation show - I belted out to Brad that we have to cancel the cable. Sigh....
