When I bought my place last year, the ad said "Designer Colours". Well, as a designer I knew that was total bullshit. With a total of six different colours in a 630 sqft condo, that shit was ridiculous. But I knew that I could easily change it with paint - I kind of figured it was a hidden gem really.....one that needed many upgrades.
One upgrade that I totally didn't notice before I bought was the kitchen cabinet pulls, they were shaped like spoons:
The horror! To think someone actually consciously picked these out. And there were 19 of them. It has always been on my mind that I needed to change them but I needed to finish painting first (more on that later).
When Chanty was here last weekend, we went to IKEA and I decided I was ready to buy my new pulls having recently completed painting my kitchen white from red. Unfortunately, the spoon pulls were 3" and IKEA had no such pull (weird). I was a little panicked but then after a trip to Home Depot the other night I found what I was looking for, a modern and inexpensive new pull:

It's funny because I'm always looking at my place and thinking "ugh I need to change the floors and the counter (all selected by the previous owner), but my place has come a long way when you consider it looked like this when I first moved in (left) compared to now:
Designer colours? Hell NO!

It's sometimes the little things that make such a big difference hey?? I have GOT to come over again. I bet it's totally different since I've been there last.
If I ever win the lottery and buy a place with my winnings, I'm gonna fly you in to do the design for me.
Okay, the kitschy part of my likes the spoon handles. But I wouldn't like them in my own home. Just the existence of something so lame makes me happy. Glad they're out though.

I liked the spoon handles at first (I tend to like 'funky' things like that!) but then seeing the new ones you got, it just looks so much more modern. It's amazing what a different look you can achieve with just changing the handles.
